Label of the week - 777

Aquasky started 777 Records back in 2004 as a sister label to Passenger. There were a number of factors that relate to the birth of 777, but the main reasons were the quality and sheer quantity of demo’s being sent to Passenger that the label could no longer cope with such a hectic and rewarding schedule.
The label’s agenda is to embrace and encourage a broad range of breakbeat styles, to show the world the diversity of it’s producers and to keep plenty of hot tracks in the recordbags of the planets top DJ’s.
Named after the seminal Botchit and Scarper track that Aquasky wrote back in 2000 and has since been heralded as the track that defined the ‘Bassline Breaks’ sound, it seemed apt to use such a distinguished name for the label, though the sound is far beyond the bassline sound.
The label was kickstarted by Aquasky, with a track titled ‘Boom’ which was an extra track intended for their Moving Shadow released album ‘Stayfresh’. This came with a remix by a trio of new kids on the block, The Breakfastaz. From there onwards the label had made a name for itself with tracks being released from Transformerman, Baobinga, Control Z and Far Too Loud, The Ragga Twins, Jim Shimmer, Def Inc, Future Funk Squad, JDS, Chris Carter and Tayo. With 2 years of releases, the output has been consistant and desired. This weeks release “How You Like Me Now?” comes courtesy of The Beatmonkeys with a quality remix thanks to Rico Tubbs - this is not to missed by any breaks heads out there - packed with old skool beats and flappin basslines!
