The Man God Bless , No Man Curse

    By remote viewer | August 19, 2008

    Junglist (DJ Zinc Remix)
    Rebel MC Featuring Peter Bouncer
    label: Congo Natty

Back in the day of twelve inch dub plates vibrating deep from council flat windows, open wide on summer nights, back in the time of nation wide riots and warrior stylee, back then when you said drum and bass you meant Sly and Robbie, Scientist and the Mighty Diamonds. I can remember watching Rebel MC on Top Of The Pops, cutting up old school reggae with beats and rhymes and people believe me the guy, along with others like Silver Bullet was seminal.

‘Junglist’ lets you know the Rebel ain’t a teenybopper no more, but the skills that made the man stand out still remain. The ‘Most Wanted’ album from which this track is drawn has a real Trojan flavor, but for my money this track with an excellent vocal from Peter Bouncer combines all the elements of reggae and drum and bass that make up Jungle Techno and that made me , like Peter and Rebel, a Junglist. It is said that every man thinks his burden is the heaviest, but the only burden on you is to dig this shit right here.

    5/5
