    BeatsDigital loves… Control Freq Records:::

    By BeatsTim | June 10, 2009

    control freq records

There comes a point in every quality producer’s life when they need to stamp their own imprint on the digital world. Already boasting a magnitude of hugely successful remixes and original tracks across a variety of labels, Filthy Rich is certainly no stranger to the studio.
Control Freq Records reflects Rich’s intensely enthusiastic and forward thinking attitude to dance music. Open-minded, fresh and refusing to stick to one sound - the one thing that is guaranteed is music of the finest quality.
As the label grows, expect to hear yet more boxfresh cuts from Rich himself, storming remixes and the cream of the crop of new talent in house. Unbounded by genres, unrestricted by rules - anything that fits in with the unique Filthy Rich vibe goes!
It’s been a busy few weeks for the label with 3 fat-as-you-like releases finding their way to our ears…
The labels 10th release is from hotly tipped label new guys “Dirty Secretz”, who are wetting our musical palettes with an elec-tro-tinged monster anthem in the form of “Drop tha Beat”. On remix duties are Filthy Rich and James Fitch (Prok & Fitch).
We also have the Filthy Rich’s smash “Dirty Freak”, getting the 2009 remix treatment from the likes of Liam Vizzle, Dirty Secretz & Jorgensen - oh yes, more dirty electro grooves for you.
Last and certainly not least “Natay EP” is the newest release destined for great things from Filthy Rich - another heavyweight production piece for the label, and going down a storm with clubbers and industry alike. Showcasing his current sound from Rich’s ever diverse repertoire of styles, Natay is a dark and edgy tech number that focuses on the dancefloor and is still full of that vital ingredient - Rich’s energetic vigor that we all know and love him for. Equally unmissable is the B-side ‘Run and Jump.’ A hit in itself, this is a classic twisted but energetic slice of deep rolling tech-house, guaranteed to get just as much coverage on the floor in its own right.

door. the Interview ++ Hot New Mixxx// Lee Jarvis (Mooch!n) NGU 20th June @ Fluid

    By Coops_door. | June 9, 2009

door. the Interview // Lee Jarvis - Moochin!

Never Grow Up is back again, full of festival vibes and cool as heck House in the club room!

Headlining we host Lee Jarvis, flying in fresh from Chicago!

Head honcho of those infamous Moochin!! parties, he helped paved the way for the Chicago / Jacking scene too take off in London.

We caught up with Lee to see what he is getting up to across the pond….

Hi Lee, what have you been up to today ??

Today I’m going through a few new records for my gig at Smart Bar tomorrow,
as well as mastering one of my forthcoming tracks for a new UK label called
‘Back to the Future’. Then I’m going to head out in the Chicago sunshine!

What made you jump around like a loon when you were a teen …
who helped forge your mind musically?

I’m a real mixed bag - I grew up on some hip-hop in my early years, and
that somehow moved into Speed Garage (East London, innit), all the time
learning from years gone by of Motwown, Prince and more. A lot of funk,
soul and disco still inspire me today. DJ Sneak was one of my biggest early
    house influences.

You live in Chicago now, hows that working out for you?

It’s going well! I’ve been picking up gigs Stateside - had a great time in Madison
last weekend - and I’m working on collaborations with a whole heap of artists here.

What are the parties like? Is it mainly just the west coast sound??
    what else is big there?

There’s a lot of house here obviously, from the best homegrown chicago
vibes to more of a european electronic sound at times. Other than that I
get out to a lot of rock gigs, and a few jazz bands too.

We miss Moochin ! Are you throwing parties over there?
Does Moochin have a future sometime? somewhere?

Haha, a lot of people keep asking similar things. I’m enjoying having a
break from the regular promoting to be honest, i’ve spent a lot of time
developing my production catalogue as well as enjoying my spare time
more. Moochin certainly will have a future, maybe with one-off parties
here, maybe with a label, who knows? Answers on a postcard please…

Loving the new tune, and props from some house royalty !
What’s happening on the production front?

Thanks! Yeah that remix picked up some cool support from Sneak and Heather,
I think it’s one of my faves too. I have a few bits coming out on UK (BTTF) and
US (1200traxx) labels, I’m working ona remix for Lost My Dog again, I have
some new groovy stuff yet to shop and I’ve also got an EP coming out in chicago
    under a techy-fidgety alias ;-)

So, you are still heavily involved in the music jobs website,
Is US Music going well?… We dig your BLOG btw!!

Yeah I am still working on the UK site, and I also run the US site too, much to a
similar vibe; get people involved, share music news and career advice, blog on the
future of the music industry, the digital revolution and marketing and development
for independent artists. There’s a great event called Un-Convention that’s happening
in Manchester while i’m back - lot’s of like minded industry folk there.

It has to be a wealth of up-coming music talent out there -
with quite possibly the coolest sound in house!!
Who are you rating at the moment - what’s in your box?

Wow! Big question!….. Some of the hottest stuff I’ve received recently has come from
Derrick Carter (of course) and Mazi (Audio Soul Project), and on a more underground tip,
I really rate the Revolutionary Music label and a whole bunch of artists working and collaborating
    under The Loft Experiment project.

So.. are you looking forward to rocking the Never Grow Up crowd?
Who are you looking forward to hearing yourself?

I’m really looking forward to the Never Grow Up party and playing in front of a London
crowd again. Spinning alongside the Illicit Audio guys is always a riot too ;)

    Thanks Lee :-)

Lee will be headlining the main room @ Never Grow Up // 20th June

Its Floor to ceiling Jacking grooves and festival vibes and its all for £6!!!

Click here for full event details

Now grab this mix whilst it’s hot! It’s mint, and not shy of a BIG tune or too!

BeatsDigital loves… Curious George & The Agent

    By BeatsTim | June 5, 2009

Curious George & The Agent is the brainchild of Michael Godsmark and Daniel Gent, two mates, who’s love of all things underground took them from friendship to studio partners. Dan (The Agent) has been into music production since 1999, experimenting with every sequencer and sound module he could lay his hands on while Michael (Curious George) has been a DJ since 2004 playing various local clubs and more recently has secured himself a position as resident at the prestigious Area 51 in Manchester.
Once the duo began their production partnership things started moving very quickly. By the end of 2008 they had 10 tracks released, picking up early support from some of the biggest players on the scene including Roger Sanchez and Carl Cox.
An impressive first year and 2009 has continued at an escalated pace when the duo where signed to the newly formed MUM Record Label (Manchester Underground Music). Their first release on MUM was part of the launch package “The Awakening EP” and their track “Taxman” was an instant hit picking up support across the board, cementing their place on the up and coming label.
Following this they released “Continuum” which charted high on many of the major download sites and brought them to the attention of Riley & Durrant who invited them onto their highly regarded NuBreed show on Galaxy FM, which exposed Curious George & The Agent to a massive national audience.
Their single Cyber Crime on MUM received a 10/10 from the mighty Carl Cox and their profile continues to rise with remix and production work for various respected labels and producers including Mark Trophy, Sonny Wharton, Daley Padley, Iain Taylor, Rudi Stakker and more.
Right now the dynamic duo continue their quest with the high profile residency at Area 51 Djing alongside the likes of Jesse Rose, Smokin Jo, Tim Green, Inland Knights. On top of this they have their long standing residency at The Loft in Preston and have secured a date at the Kendal Calling Festival in July (alongside Stanton Warriors & Mike Skinner to name a few), dates in Ibiza and gigs taking them around the world to be confirmed plus they are about to start their own radio show in June (details to be announced).
Curious George & The Agent are fast establishing themselves as the ‘new kids on the block’ - the ones to watch. Their new “Serious EP” a monster 4 track release on MUM, leaves you in no doubt of their intent and determination.

    BeatsDigital loves… Black&White Orange Records

    By BeatsTim | May 11, 2009

Founded in June 2008 in London UK, Black&White Orange Records is the creation of DJ, Producer and Engineer Klangfrequenz. Musically, it focuses on House, Deep House, Tech House and Techno which has been sweeping its way through clubland worldwide. Its mission is to discover new boundaries in the forward thinking electronic dance music scene and to draw inspiration from new innovations as well as its history.
The debut release surfaced in September 2008 and featured 4 tracks by Klangfrequenz and special guests. A busy release schedule has already followed and more releases are lined up including EPs and remixes of various Black&White Orange artists as well as of some established DJs/Producers of the global electronic dance music scene.
This week sees the arrival of a very special release from their own Techno pioneer Baldino. The original track “Ping Pong” is a sensational idea and perfectly reflects Baldino’s wide creativity and huge production talent. This track is without a doubt something you have never heard before! A dark rolling bassline, minimalistic synths and pumpy drum beats underline the enormous special effect of a live Ping Pong match. Obviously Klangfrequenz and Gareth 2Dark couldn’t miss the chance to remix this revolutionary idea and add their own personal flavour to the original.
The Ping Pong remix package will definitely rearrange your sense for electronic music and confirm that everything is possible and no limits exist. These tracks will surely transform a night into mayhem. It’s a release not to be missed!

Never Grow Up MAYDAY! Reviews // Paul TJ

    By Coops_door. | April 28, 2009

    door. Previews // Paul TJ

Paul TJ has been with us from the very first Never Grow Up
and a good mate of door. His electro tightly mixed style giving
contrasting and complimenting flavours to the night as a whole.
We’re glad he is back and not falling over in snow for this one
and will be finishing off upstairs in banging fashion. Here’s his specifics!

What have you been up to today?

Finishing of a presentation report for a client while listening to
some Steve Lawler on www.be-at.tv. I just returned from a nice
walk in the sun around Holborn for lunch.

    Where you from?

Originally from Sydney and have moved around a lot in Australia.
I have also lived in NYC.

    Where d’you live?

I’ve been living in West Kensington for almost 5 years now
and I love it there. It’s close to the river and has easy access
    to central London.

What do you like most about London?

There is always something going on, always something to do…
    you can never get bored.

What where you listening to as a kid jumping around in your bedroom?

Mostly grunge and 90s hip hop. I didn’t get into electronic music until I was
about 15. The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers changed everything for me.

Hot tunes to look out for this summer?

I’d be surprised if Deadmau5 didn’t come up with something worthwhile
for the summer. I’d like to hear a remix of Prodigy’s ‘Omen’.
I think Pendulum would do another fine job at that.

    What was your first vinyl?

One of them was Plump DJs Electric Disco special edition ’see-through’ vinyl.
I still have it at home although I’ve made the switch to CD.

What’s new from you for 2009?

Getting back out there mixing regularly again after a few months
of demanding ‘day job’ work. Being an Aussie I would be keen
on doing an outdoor gig in the summer, a small festival would be
    an incredible atmosphere.

Where can we catch you after Never Grow Up?

Apart from more banging Never Grow Up line up’s throughout the coming
year, I haven’t thought about that yet! Any ideas??

You looking forward to slamming our Never Grow Up crowd?
Here’s your chance to get ‘em excited.

Definitely. I’m gutted I missed the last one due to a snowboarding
holiday. I’m going to be playing some relatively new releases selected
to my taste and style, so be prepared to D.A.N.C.E
